Business Rating Revaluations 2005 and 2010 listings
what does this mean for your business?

Every 5 years the Valuations Office re-evaluates all UK commercial property
rates. The new ratings listings is due in 2010. Will you be paying too much?

Business rates are assessments based on "drive-by" and sometimes out-of-date information and are not applied on your individual circumstances. You may already be paying too much and could appeal against your current 2005 rates. However, you only have until 31st March 2010 to lodge your appeal and you can only appeal once.
Ratings are calculated on five components: previous ratings value, survey data (floor area, age of building, air conditioning, lifts etc.), valuation matrix (price per square metre applied to floor area), car parking matrix (applied to any space allocated for parking), The Scales (your business type and which floor level(s) your company occupies).
The new 2010 listings may put your business on an incorrect Business Rate tariff. We can assess if you have grounds for appeal.
We can help your business with Business Rate audits, surveys, writing and serving your proposal on the Valuation Office Agency (VOA), negotiation and representation, checking revised statements and rebates, Empty Property Relief and Business Rate Relief (for companies with less than £15,000 rateable values or £21,500 in Greater London).
