Medium Small Gas Supplies
The industry regard all consumptions below 733,000 kWhs to be SME gas supplies with contract that have less penalties than the large consumers. Usages above 293,000 may be priced on the daily market where volumes below this will be priced from ‘pre-bought’ gas supplies.
These meters will be manually read either monthly or quarterly, if the meter readings are not received then suppliers will use the figures supplied to them by Transco, known as the AQ (annual quantity) to estimate your bills.

The Market:
The prices for the lower usages can be priced rapidly from price matrices the larger the usage the more risk is perceived by the suppliers and they will need to go to Transco to find your supply volume details.
When the weather is cold and the storage facilities are low the UK prices will tend to rise, when there is confidence in the market prices fall. In the present credit crisis your ‘credit rating’ will also be a deciding factor.
If your credit rating is too low suppliers may require a bond of three months expenditure, or may refuse to offer a contract at all.
