16 Mar 08 - Interruptible gas supplies to end

Some large sites have interruptible gas supplies that allow the transportation networks to take emergency measures to balance supply and demand. Sites that have these types of supply are being phased out unless they actively enter an auction to bid for tranches of interruptible supply. The reason for the move is that many sites that held these contracts were receiving discounted rates (as compensation) however they were in areas that enjoyed 100% secure network supply. It was deemed unfair that customers that did not run the risk of interruptions were benefiting form discounted rates that were designed for those truly at risk.
