08 May 08 - Gas "Take-or-Pay" clauses to change
Changes in the way that Transco bill suppliers for the transportation of gas are causing energy companies to review their billing and pricing strategies. British Gas will shortly be measuring the "Take-or-Pay" commitment of customers on a monthly basis rather than a yearly schedule.
Some suppliers will fix your 'commodity' unit rate but leave the transport costs flexible to account for varying Transco charges.
If your usage is in excess of 1GW then you will need to supply a monthly breakdown of your consumption to get accurate pricing and contracts that reflect the "Take-or-Pay" rules.
